Wooden wicks are a little different from a traditional cotton wick as they burn longer and cleaner and create a cosy crackling ambience but they do require a bit of extra care to get the most out of them.

On the first burn allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the glass to prevent tunnelling which can impact how well your candle burns the next time.

Always trim your wick before each use, removing all charred wood from the previous burn. If the wick is too long it cannot absorb the wax to burn properly so keep it short! To trim a wooden wick and remove the charred wood, you can use a wick trimmer or simply pinch off the charred wood between your fingers.

Most problems with a wooden wick candle can be solved by trimming the wick!
